| | My research interests center around computational methods for dynamic and nonlinear mechanics of materials and solids, multiscale materials modeling, simulation of microstructure evolution, and biomechanics.
My research activities include development of finite element and meshfree particle methods for materials modeling, large deformation and contact mechanics, strain localization, damage mechanics, evolution of material interfaces and grain structures, coupled dislocation dynamics and continuum mechanics, multiscale homogenization of heterogeneous materials, coarse graining of DNA molecular structures, modeling of biological tissues, and numerical solution of Schrφdinger equation in quantum mechanics. These computational methods have been applied to modeling of rubber materials, magnetostrictive particle-filled elastomers, mesoscale modeling of stressed grain growth, metal forming processes, earth moving processes, soil-wheel interaction, fragment/impact modeling, multiscale modeling of dislocation induced inelastic response, multiscale modeling of DNA molecular structural deformation, and in-vivo numerical study of muscle mechanics in human lower leg. |
