Professor Zhang wins Teaching Award Mon, 21-Sep-2009. Assistant Professor Jian Zhang has won the 2009 Northrop Grumman Excellence in Teaching Award from the Henri Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at UCLA. Professor Zhang teaches graduate courses on "Theory of Plates and Shells" and "Earthquake Hazard Mitigation" as well as an undergraduate course on Reinforced Concrete design. She also serves as the faculty adviser to the UCLA student chapter of EERI. Professor Zhang joins the following previous CEE recipients of this award: 2008 - Terri S. Hogue 2007 - Jennifer A.
