Jonathan P. Stewart, Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was one of several UCLA faculty honored with a 2012 Distinguished Teaching Award, at an awards ceremony held in Fall 2012.

Professor Mahendra's research as Hellman Fellow highlighted

Assistant Professor Shaily Mahendra was named a UCLA Hellman Fellow in 2011 for her project titled "Biodegradation of Perfluorinated Compounds." Her research has been highlighted in the annual report for the Hellman Fellow program.

Professor Chen Begins Service as EMI Governor

Professor J.S. Chen was elected by the Board of Governors of the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute to the post of Governor. His service in this capacity began in October 2012.

Undergraduate Students Place 1st in Seismic Competition

Undergraduate students from CEE placed 1st, for the second year in a row, at the EERI seismic design competition. Their most recent win occurred at the EERI Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA in February 2013.
